Phil Howard with Steamboat Powdercats was presented with a $1,000 Scholarship Award check. As head of maintenance he is responsible for the day-to-day operation of all of their vehicles including snowcats, snowmobiles and trucks. Additionally, as is the case at many areas, Phil is often required to perform other tasks such as welding, carpentry and fabrication. Therefore, he felt it was time to become a certified welder and this award will help cover some of the expenses related to his pursuit. “I’m very appreciative of this scholarship” Phil told the crowd at the annual luncheon “and I encourage anyone interested in receiving financial support to help cover their schooling costs to apply.”
The SAVMI Scholarship program is designed specifically to provide financial assistance to students actively pursuing a career in the automotive/heavy equipment/small engine and/or ski industry. Information regardin the 2019 Scholarship will be available in January.
